Dry Needling

Dry needling is a treatment used by physiotherapists where they insert very fine filament sterile needles (acupuncture needle) into tissues,  in order to stimulate a healing effect. Depending on the specific points chosen and the technique used, its proposed effects are

  • relax muscle spasm and myofascial trigger points (knots in the muscle) to improve function
  • assist with pain relief
  • reduce inflammation
  • improve local immune / healing responses

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient healing therapy that some people use to ease pain. A provider places cups on your back, stomach, arms, legs or other parts of your body. Inside the cup, a vacuum or suction force pulls skin upward.

Cupping is a form of traditional Chinese and Middle Eastern medicine. People have practiced cupping therapy for thousands of years. It may also leave a circular mark on your skin post treatment temporarily.

Exercise Prescription

Therapeutic exercises are one of the most effective components of physiotherapy and rehabilitation program. Depending on the goals of treatment and the level of functional abilities, a physiotherapist prescribes targeted exercises to clients. These exercises are meant to be performed in the clinic and as part of home exercise program. The exercises are to encourage more balance around the joints by relaxing tight muscles and strengthening weak muscles to assist the body into working in a coordinated fashion to improve performance and function.

Women’s Health

Women’s health physiotherapy helps treat women’s health issues such as incontinence, pelvic/ vaginal pain, prenatal and postpartum musculoskeletal pain, osteoporosis, rehabilitation following breast surgery, lymphedema, education prevention, wellness and return to exercise plan and so much more. Sometimes it’s even nice just to check that you’re doing your pelvic floor exercises correctly!
